Alfa Romeo 33 StradaleAlongside the development of the new sports prototype car (the 33/2) a road version was also designed. First released in September 1967, it featured all the sports car characteristics such as its mid-mounted twin-spark dohc fuel-injected V8 engine with 230bhp whilst being clothed in a spectacular new 2-seat body designed and constructed by Franco Scaglione. The thin aluminum shell covered a lightweight tubular frame and featured fully openable panels commonly found on competition cars.
Total production was 18 examples from 1967 to 1971.
See our Concept cars page for some 33 based cars. You can also find pictures of these cars on our Alfa Romeo museum page. The exhibition at the London Science Museum also featured this model.
