Lancia Phedra

Lancia PhedraLaunched at the Geneva Motorshow of 2002, the Phedra was the replacement for the ageing Zeta. As with the latter, it was the result of a joint-venture between Fiat and PSA, the other Italian version being the Fiat Ulysse. The Phedra is a completely new vehicle, larger in all dimensions than its predecessor and fitted with various new technology, as well as new powerplants and a new design.

Following the launch of the Thesis the Phedra also adopts the new large corporate grille and has luxury and wellbeing on board as its main priorities. As standard it features a complex multi-zone climate-control system, cruise control, parking sensors, automatic lights, wipers etc whilst the options are numerous, such as electrically controlled seat adjustment. As with other recent offerings, the Phedra features the CONNECT navigation and assistance system, controlled via a 7" colour screen in the centre of the dashboard.

Engines are all PSA units and comprise two common-rail equipped diesels, a 2-litre 16V four with 109bhp @ 4,000rpm and a 2.2-litre 16V four with 128bhp @ 4,000rpm and two petrol units, a 2-litre 16V four with 136bhp @ 6,000rpm and a 3-litre V6 with 204bhp @ 6,000rpm. Manual or automatic transmission are available with all engines. The suspension follows the layout of the Zeta, with MacPherson struts at the front and an independent wishbone system at the rear.
